On our last evening in Methoni, we decided to try Katsaróla, a place warmly recommended by locals and by the lovely person managing our hotel. He told us it was the best restaurant in town – and we’re happy to agree.
We followed their suggestions and ordered some of the house specialties, including the burgers, cheese-based starters, and I personally went for the traditional Greek pastitsio – all delicious and carefully prepared.
As always in Greece, the kindness and hospitality were outstanding, and the food made our final dinner feel truly special. Prices were absolutely fair, in line with the average, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming.
There’s still a lot left to explore in the area, so we hope to be back – and when we are, we’ll definitely return here. Thank you once again!- Group size

We visited this lovely restaurant three times during our twelve-day stay in Methoni—and each time was an absolute delight. As vegans, we were especially impressed by the variety and quality of the plant-based options. The lemon potatoes, fava, and mushrooms were particular highlights—each dish bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly prepared with great care and creativity.
The cuisine here is refined yet deeply rooted in Greek tradition, with a freshness that speaks to the quality of ingredients and the love poured into every plate. The service is just as exceptional—warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. We felt truly cared for every time we came.

Cozy tavern with an open kitchen right next to it. Waitress was well trained and extremely polite, as well as the Chef. We had the best Moussaka in Greece here, not the watered down tourist version, real spices and flavours and big portions. The self created pesto appetizer was also refreshingly new. And after a nice dessert on the house.

Katsarola in Methoni isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience. From the first bite to the last, everything was fresh, delicious, and crafted with care.
We kicked things off with a Greek salad full of crisp, fresh veggies, a grilled talagani with tomato chutney that was such a pleasant surprise, and chicken croquettes that were crispy, juicy, and honestly a must-try.
For the mains, the Tomahawk steak was cooked perfectly – juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The chicken with sweet potato purée was such a comforting combo, light but super tasty. And the truffle orzo? That one totally stole the show – rich, aromatic, and so well-balanced.
The food was amazing, but what really made it special was the warm hospitality and friendly service. You feel like you’re not just eating out, but being taken care of.
We discovered Katsarola on our very last day of vacation, but it’s safe to say we’ll be coming back for another visit. If you’re ever in Methoni, this place is a no-brainer – you’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next trip!- Group size

Small, charming restaurant with interesting variations on Greek favourites. The chickpea fritters, spinach and rocket salad with fresh Anthotyro cheese, and roasted chicken leg with basmati rice were all delicious. Excellent service and prices. But you need to book, it gets busy, even in October!

The staff were very friendly. We had a baked cheese with nuts and strawberry jam which was unusual and very well presented, followed by lamb for two which was baked in a parcel with potatoes, tomatoes and herbs which was absolutely delicious (€20 for 2). As it was so tasty only wish the portion was a bit bigger and that they would charge a bit more. The house wine was good value too. All in all we highly recommend- Group size

Katsarola has some of the best food we had while we were on vacation in Methoni. We had the beef with hilopites, salad and a mushroom appetizer. The main dish blew us away, tomatoes from the salad were very juicy and the marinade of the mushrooms were our of this world. So so yummy. 10/10 we recommend it 100%

By far one of the best places to eat in Methoni. The food is absolutely wonderful and super tasty. The host is exceptional and caring and they will also present you the daily specials which usually are traditional dishes beside what's on the menu.

The tasty food, the friendly service, the cozy ambient >>> amazing! I can highly recommend this small restaurant in Methoni. I love the chicken croquettes, the talagani cheese and also the kritharaki/orzo with octopus - so yummy!
